94 Poena za Grašac Grand Fru 2020, Vinarija Vinčić

Ocena 94 poena

Prelepog čelično-zlatnog sjaja, Grand Fru odiše hipnotičkim aromama cvetova narandže i limuna, uskršnjeg ljiljana, kruške i kumkvata, uz dašak hrasta nakon šest meseci odležavanja u bariku.

It’s always exciting to taste an excellent Grašac from Fruška Gora in Serbia – especially one that is a beacon of this long-underrated grape variety, and that stands head-to-head with its top regional counterparts in Hungary (Olaszrizling), Croatia (Graševina) and Austria (Welschriesling).

This Grand Fru is an oak-matured sibling of Grašac Beli 2020 which captured a Best in Show title at the Decanter World Wine Awards (I am a judge) in the Spring of 2023. With its beautiful steely golden sheen, the Grand Fru oozes with hypnotic aromas of orange and lemon blossoms, Easter lily, pear and cumquat, with a whiff of oak from the six months spent ageing in barriques.

The palate is gorgeous, exuding notes of lemon peel, peach, pear, cumquat and dragon fruit, even blood orange curd, plus a hint of verbena and grapefruit – all coddled by a fine undertone of salty minerality that continues through the lingering finish. Such supremely integrated acidity lends to the seduction. What an ideal food-companion wine – one that just keeps on giving!   |
